KriegsgegnerInnen konzentrieren sich gerne darauf, Pläne in den USA für einen Angriff auf den Iran mit Sorge zu beobachten. Doch ist auch erforderlich, das Umfeld im Auge zu behalten und auf Situationen aufmerksam zu machen, die sie sich sehr rasch aufheizen können und uns möglicherweise buchstäblich überfallsartig gebannt auf Bildschirme starren lassen, wo Aufnahme von Angriffen zu sehen sind. Am 6. und 7. September 2007 kann man etwa diese Meldungen miteinander in Bezug bringen:
Russland, Syrien, Israel, NATO
Moskau warnt vor weiterer Verletzung syrischen Luftraums durch Israel: "Moskau rechnet damit, dass Israel - zur Vermeidung einer Verschärfung der Situation im Nahen Osten - kein wiederholtes Eindringen seiner Luftwaffe in den Luftraum Syriens zulassen wird.
Das berichtet die Web-Seite des Informations- und Presseamtes des russischen Außenministeriums.Laut einer Mitteilung von SANA, der amtlichen Nachrichtenagentur Syriens, waren israelische Militärflugzeuge in der Nacht zum 6. September in den Luftraum von Syrien eingedrungen. In dem Dokument wird darauf verwiesen, dass Damaskus diesen Zwischenfall als „Aggressionsakt“ bewertet und sich das Recht auf entsprechende Antworthandlungen vorbehält.
„Die eintreffenden Meldungen dazu rufen in Moskau große Besorgnis hervor. Wir hoffen, dass es zu keiner weiteren Eskalation kommt und die israelische Seite Maßnahmen trifft, die derartige Zwischenfälle ausschließen“, heißt es in der Mitteilung des russischen Außenministeriums. Es wird unterstrichen, dass die Verletzung des Luftraums und der territorialen Integrität eines souveränen Staates nach allen Völkerrechtsregeln unannehmbar ist. Russland sei darüber besorgt, „dass es sich um den Nahen Osten handelt, eine Region, die ohnehin durch scharfe Konflikte und Spannungen überbelastet ist“, heißt es."
Mittlerweile gibt es dazu viele Nachrichten, wo abzuwiegeln versucht wird, während Syrien behauptet, es habe sich um einen konkreten Angriff gehandelt (man habe auch zurückgeschossen). Auch Spannungen zwischen der NATO und Russland sind die Folge, wozu jedoch auch noch andere Vorfälle beitragen. Israel bestreitet einen Angriff, gibt aber zur Verletzung syrischen Luftraums keinen Kommentar ab. Allerdings gibt es auch israelische Statements, dass man täglich in syrisches Hoheitsgebiet eindringt.
Russland und NATO
"Britische Luftwaffe drängt erneut russische Bomber ab" macht der "Standard" im Web am 6.9. aus Meldungen, wonach acht TU-95 (Bear) Langstreckenbomber einer normalen internationalen Route folgten. Im "Standard" näherten sie sich britischem und norwegischem Luftraum, weswegen sie verfolgt wurden. "Abdrängen" klingt fast schon nach Kampfhandlungen, sodass man sich fragen kann, was der "Standard" mit diesem Söbelrasseln bezweckt: "Die britische Luftwaffe hat erneut russische Kampfflugzeuge abgedrängt. Die acht Langstreckenbomber vom Typ TU-95 hätten sich britischem Luftraum genähert, teilte das Verteidigungsministerium am Donnerstag in London mit. Daraufhin seien vier Tornados vom Typ F3 von den englischen Grafschaften Yorkshire und Lincolnshire aufgestiegen. .. Russland steht derzeit in der Kritik, mit Langstreckenaufklärungsflügen Methoden des Kalten Kriegs wieder aufleben zu lassen.,,,Die russischen Bomber wurden zeitweise auch von norwegischen Kampfflugzeugen vom Typ F16 verfolgt, als sie sich dem nationalen Luftraum näherten."

"Norwegian and British fighters scrambled twice Thursday (6.9.) to monitor eight Russian bombers that neared the Nordic country's territory in the latest show of air power by the Kremlin, defense officials said. Lt. Col. John Inge Oeglaend, of the Norwegian Joint Headquarters, said the Tupolev-95 strategic bombers, also called Tu-95MC or Bears, neared but did not enter Norwegian air space in the far north. British defense officials said four Royal Air Force fighters also scrambled to monitor the flight, which did not enter British territory. "They followed a normal route in international air space," Oeglaend said by telephone from the western Norway port of Stavanger. He said they flew near Norway's northern tip over the Barents Sea, then over the North Atlantic and back.
Oeglaend said two Norwegian F-16 fighters were sent up both times that the Russian aircraft approached Norway, in keeping with normal practice. Norway, a member of the NATO alliance, and Russia share land and ocean borders in the Arctic, including the vast Barents Sea.According to Oeglaend, this is the third time Norwegian fighters have scrambled since mid-July to monitor a rising number of Russian military air exercises. A British Defense Ministry spokesman, speaking on traditional condition of anonymity, said, "I can confirm that in the early hours of this morning four F3s launched from RAF Leeming and RAF Waddington to intercept eight Russian Bears, which had not entered UK airspace."
Russian news agencies quoted air force spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky as saying Thursday that Russian long-range bombers had begun patrols of distant areas of the globe late Wednesday, in accordance with plans announced by President Vladimir Putin for a resumption of the flights. "In accordance with the confirmed plan, 14 Tu-95MC strategic bombers on Wednesday evening began regular air patrols over the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic oceans involving in-flight refueling," ITAR-Tass and Interfax quoted Drobyshevsky as saying. He said the flights were not violating international regulations and that the planes "are flying over neutral waters, not approaching close to the air borders of foreign countries," according to ITAR-Tass.Drobyshevsky said that "practically all (the bombers involved) are being shadowed by NATO jets," the reports said."

If Russia feels as though they want to take some of these old aircraft out of mothballs and get them flying again, that's their decision."

Although it was common practice during the Cold War for both the U.S. and the Soviet Union to keep nuclear strategic bombers permanently airborne, the Kremlin cut long-range patrols in 1992. The decision came as a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the ensuing economic and political chaos. However, the newly-resurgent Russia, awash with oil dollars, has invested heavily in military technology, and the resumption of long-range patrols is widely seen among political commentators as another sign of its drive to assert itself both militarily and politically."
USA und der Rest der Welt
Dass Ende August 2007 "zufällig" ein amerikanischer B-52-Bomber mit sechs Nuklearwaffen an Bord lange über den USA unterwegs war, bis er auf der Barksdale Air Force Base landete, von wo aus es zu Einsätzen im Nahen Osten geht, muss keinen chronologischen Zusammenhang zur Putin-Ankündigung von Mitte August haben. Zu bedenken gilt aber, dass kein Bomber "versehentlich" Atomsprengköpfe mitnimmt, da es für deren Handling ein genaues Procedere gibt und dies auf der Skala der Alarmbereitschaft der amerikanischen Streitkräfte bei DEF CON 3 passiert. Dies steht für Defense Condition 3, zuletzt erreicht beim Yom Kippur-Krieg 1973 (wo ein Eingreifen Russlands befürchtet wurde), und am 11.9.2001 (Artikel zum Bomberzwischenfall hier). DEF CON 2, dem Krieg noch näher, galt etwa während der Kuba-Missile-Krise 1962....
Strange Goings-On Here in Lebanon sind Beobachtungen von Robert Fisk: "So what else do the Americans have up their sleeve for us out here? Well, an old chum of mine in the Deep South - a former US Vietnam veteran officer - has a habit of tramping through the hills to the north of his home and writes to me that "in my therapeutic and recreation trips ... in the mountains of North Carolina over the last two weeks, I've noticed a lot of F-16 and C-130 activity. They are coming right through the passes, low to the ground. The last time I saw this kind of thing up there was before Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan".
That was in early August. Two weeks later, my friend wrote again. "There were a few (more) C-130 passes... I know that some 75th Rangers have just moved out of their home base and that manoeuvres have gone on in areas that have been used... in the past before assaults utilizing [sic] aircraft guided by small numbers of special operations people."And then comes the cruncher in my friend's letter. "I think that the Bush administration is looking for something to distract Americans before the mid-September report on progress in Iraq. And I believe that the pressure is building to do something about the sanctuaries for the Taliban and foreign fighters along the Pakistan/Afghanistan border..."
A few days after my friend's letter arrived in Beirut, the Pakistanis reported that the Americans were using pilotless drones to attack targets just inside Pakistan. But it seems much more ambitious military plans may now be in the works. An all-out strike inside the North West Frontier province before President Pervez Musharref steps down - or is overthrown? A last throw of the dice at Bin Laden before "democracy" returns to Pakistan?"

We Are Going To Hit Iran. Bigtime bezieht sich auf die Angaben eines weiblichen US-Marineoffiziers: "I have a friend who is an LSO on a carrier attack group that is planning and staging a strike group deployment into the Gulf of Hormuz. (LSO: Landing Signal Officer- she directs carrier aircraft while landing) She told me we are going to attack Iran. She said that all the Air Operation Planning and Asset Tasking are finished. That means that all the targets have been chosen, prioritized, and tasked to specific aircraft, bases, carriers, missile cruisers and so forth. I asked her why she is telling me this. Her answer was really amazing.
She started in the Marines and after 8 years her term was up. She had served on a smaller Marine carrier, and found out through a friend knew there was an opening for a junior grade LSO in a training position on a supercarrier. She used the reference and the information and applied for a transfer to the United States Navy. Since she had experience landing F-18Cs and Cobra Gunships, and an unblemished combat record, she was ratcheted into the job, successfully changing from the Marines to the Navy. Her role is still aligned with the Marines since she generally is assigned to liason with the Marine units deploying off her carrier group.
Like most Marines and former Marines, she is largely apolitical. The fact is, most Marines are trigger pullers and most trigger pullers could care less who the President is. They simply want to be the tip of the sword when it comes to defending the country. She voted once in her life and otherwise was always in some forward post on the water during election season. Something is wrong with the Navy and the Marines in her view. Always ready to go in harms way, Marines rarely ever question unless it’s a matter of tactics or honor. But something seems awry. Junior and senior officers are starting to grumble, roll their eyes in the hallways. The strain of deployments is beginning to hit every jot and tittle of the Marines and it’s beginning to seep into the daily conversation of Marines and Naval officers in command decision.....
"Today, orders just come down from the mountaintop and there’s no questioning. In fact, there is no discussing it. I have seen more than one senior commander disappear and then three weeks later we find out that he has been replaced. That’s really weird. It’s also really weird because everyone who has disappeared has questioned whether or not we should be staging a massive attack on Iran. We’re not stupid. Most of the members of the fleet read well enough to know what is going on world-wise. We also realize that anyone who has any doubts is in danger of having a long military career yanked out from under them. Keep in mind that most of the people I serve with are happy to be a part of the global war on terror. It’s just that the touch points are what we see since we are the ones out here who are supposedly implementing this grand strategy. But when you liason with administration officials who don’t know that Iranians don’t speak Arabic and have no idea what Iranians live like, then you start having second thoughts about whether these Administration officials are even competent."
I asked her about the attack, how limited and so forth. "I don’t think it’s limited at all. We are shipping in and assigning every damn Tomahawk we have in inventory. I think this is going to be massive and sudden, like thousands of targets. I believe that no American will know when it happens until after it happens. And whatever the consequences, whatever the consequences, they will have to be lived with. I am sure if my father knew I was telling someone in a news organization that we were about to launch a supposedly secret attack that it would be treason. But something inside me tells me to tell it anyway." "
"Australischer Bin Laden besucht Bush" ist eine nur auf den ersten Blick vielleicht amüsante Meldung, erinnert es doch daran, dass sich ein falsches Kamerateam am Morgen von 9/11 Zutritt zu Bush verschaffen wollte, gerade zwei Tage, nachdem Shah Masoud, Führer der afghanischen Nordallianz, von falschen Kameraleuten ermordet wurde: "Mitglieder einer australischen Comedy-Truppe sind in einer Fahrzeugkolonne durch die Sicherheitskontrollen des Apec-Gipfels (bis 9.9., Anmerkung) in Sydney gefahren, ohne umgehend angehalten zu werden. Drei großen Autos und zwei Motorrädern mit kanadischen Flaggen gelang es am Donnerstag, zwei Kontrollpunkte unbehelligt zu passieren.
Erst vor dem Hotel, in dem US-Präsident George W. Bush untergebracht ist, wurde die Kolonne von der Polizei gestoppt. Einer der Beteiligten trug eine weiße Tunika und einen langen Bart - im Stil von Osama bin Laden. Der Gag dürfte den australischen Behörden sehr peinlich sein, da für das Gipfeltreffen des Asiatisch-Pazifischen Wirtschaftsforums Apec die bislang schärfsten Sicherheitsvorkehrungen angekündigt worden waren. Nach einem Bericht des australischen Senders ABC, der die Comedy-Sendung der beteiligten Truppe ausstrahlt, nahm die Polizei elf Mitglieder fest und beschlagnahmte drei Fahrzeuge. "Es gibt keinen besonderen Grund, warum wir kanadische Flagge gewählt haben. Wir haben einfach ein Land ausgesucht, das die Polizisten höchstwahrscheinlich nicht zu sehr unter die Lupe nehmen würden", sagte Comedy-Darsteller Chris Taylor der Zeitung "Sydney Morning Herald"."

"The al-Qaida leader has not appeared in new video footage since Oct. 29, 2004, and he has not put out a new audiotape in more than a year. One difference in his appearance was immediately obvious. The announcement had a still photo from the upcoming video, showing bin Laden addressing the camera, his beard fully black. In his past videos, bin Laden's beard was almost entirely gray with dark streaks
Rita Katz, director of the SITE Institute, a Washington-based group that monitors terror messages, said bin Laden's beard appeared to have been dyed, a popular practice among Arab leaders. "I think it works for their (al-Qaida's) benefit that he looks young, he looks healthy," Katz said.The announcement and photo appeared in a banner advertisement on an Islamic militant Web site where al-Qaida's media arm, Al-Sahab, frequently posts messages."
Schon wieder ein Fake, nachdem Osama zum letzten Mal nicht 2004, sondern 2001 aufgenommen wurde und sich in jenem Jahr auch, bevor er starb, schwer an der Hand verletzte. Im Vergleich zum sichtbar kranken, mageren Osama von einst wird uns nun also einer mit gefärbten Haaren präsentiert. Er wird aber nicht H2O2 verwendet haben wie die deutschen "Bleichmittelbomber", die so auffällig observiert wurden, dass selbst die Dorfbevölkerung es eher merkte als die "Superterroristen"....
